A few useful things to know.
Supported files at a glance
Word: .docx input and editable .docx download. PDF: .pdf input and .pdf download with added signatures, text and dates. Maximum document size: 25 MB. Signature images: PNG, JPEG and WebP. Legacy .doc and encrypted documents are not supported.
My Word document looks different
Complex formatting or fonts unavailable to the editor can change how a document looks. Compare it with the original, correct what you can, and check the exported copy in the recipient’s viewer. FreeSignature does not promise identical rendering for every Word feature.
Where is my saved document?
Use the editor’s download action to save a finished copy, then check your browser’s downloads. Keep the original as a backup. Your document is not stored in an online FreeSignature account, so download your work before closing the editor or refreshing the page.
How is the editor kept separate from ads?
The public website can load advertising and optional analytics. The /editor/ page contains an isolated editor hosted on a separate Netlify origin. Your address bar stays on FreeSignature, while the browser keeps document access separate. Neither the surrounding editor page nor the document workspace loads ads or analytics.
Report a problem
You can report a reproducible software issue in our public GitHub repository. Do not attach private documents, signatures or personal details to a public issue. Describe the file format, browser and steps, or use a made-up sample document.
